At INPOWERED Therapy

We hold a deep sense of our shared humanity at the heart of the work we do.

We believe everyone is the expert on themself and that we all hold the ability to grow, heal, and change within us— we just need to learn how to connect with it.

Modalities

Our team draws heavily on attachment-based theories in addition to somatic, body-focused and mindfulness-based treatments such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), yoga therapy, Somatic Experiencing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and other holistic and integrative practices.

Internal Family Systems is an evidence based approach that gives meaning and compassion to our parts to help  understand our feelings and behaviors so that change happens through curiosity and love.

Somatic psychotherapy is a therapeutic approach which engages the body awareness as a powerful tool and intervention in therapy.

“Listen to the sound of the waves within you”

- Rumi

Pause, breathe, and release into the cleansing waves of Lake Michigan. Mindfully watch waves crash against the shore against a backdrop of stormy skies broken by rays of light through the clouds.

Children

Children who are struggling are often only able to communicate their pain by showing us behaviorally.
Our approach is based on the belief that we are all doing the best we can with what we have available to us in the moment and as such our goal is to compassionately understand the whole system. This begins with a comprehensive assessment of the child and their family’s strengths, challenges, history, and social context in order to seek a deep understanding of each individual’s lived experience, allowing us to take a comprehensive and individualized approach focused on strengths.

Individual

Through a parts lens, we get curious about your parts and their function. This allows for non pathologizing and compassionate growth. We also find growth edges to challenge our clients to noticeable change.

Group therapy is a special healing experience and opportunity to connect with others who have similar feelings and experiences. There will be group therapy offerings coming soon.

Relationship Therapy

We offer support around topics such as communication, compromise, finances, and intimacy through a compassionate lens that also offers skill building and curiosity. We support all types of relationships including couples, marriage,  friendships,  and ethical non-monogamous relationships.

Areas of Focus

  • Attachment Trauma

The ability to securely attach is foundational as human beings and children will do whatever it takes to maintain a relationship with those with whom they are attached. When these attachment relationships are unsafe we shut down parts of ourselves and develop protective strategies to survive.

  • Anxiety + Panic

Our holistic approach, blending somatic therapy and internal family systems therapy, can help you gain a deeper understanding of your anxiety and develop effective strategies for managing it.

  • Codependency

Codependency, often rooted in childhood experiences, can hinder personal growth. At our holistic psychotherapy practice, we address codependency with empathy, helping clients establish healthy boundaries and cultivate self-reliance.

  • Depression

Depression is more than sadness; it's a complex experience. We understands the depth of depression, from feeling disengaged and lethargic to constant fatigue and irritability. We provide empathic support to guide your journey toward healing and empowerment.

  • Disordered Eating

Using food as a way to cope with challenging feelings is a common experience for many. This may look like a cycle of overeating and regret, chronic restricting, or feeling fixated on food and your body. We incorporate IFS to understand protective parts and follow HAYES method.

  • Grief

Grief is a natural response to life's profound changes, from shattered dreams to pandemic-induced losses, strained relationships, or the passing of loved ones. At our holistic psychotherapy practice, we provide a safe space to explore and heal these emotions.

  • Parenting

It’s incessant, exhausting, and often triggering. Raising good humans is one of the most difficult and important jobs you will ever do. It’s normal to have times where you feel out of sorts and in need of support. We are here to help you get grounded in your best self so you can be the parent you want to be.

  • Parents of Multiples

Parenting twins is a unique journey that layers all of the typical parenting challenges with the increased complexity of navigating the twinhood experience. Find support as you navigate the highs and lows of raising multiples.

  • Perinatal Concerns

Having a new baby causes massive upheaval and for many people this transition brings with it postpartum depression and anxiety. It can feel scary to acknowledge that you are not feeling that baby bliss our society sells us but you are not alone.

  • Relationship Concerns

Relationships are hard, they are the place we are called to be our most vulnerable and thus press on painful attachment wounds, inviting us to self protect.

  • Religious Trauma + Spiritual Abuse

Religion can be a source of great solace but for some it can also be a source of trauma and pain. Whether exploring your faith or facing the pain of a previous negative religious experience, we have clinicians on staff who have extensive experience in working with these populations.

  • Transition

Transition can be a time of excitement and growth but it can also stir up parts of us that feel conflicted, fearful, overwhelmed, or unsafe. We are here to support you through your difficult adjustment.
