OUR ROOTS
InPowered Therapy + Yoga was founded on the belief that becoming safely grounded in our bodies leads to deepening self-awareness, compassion, and connection and that this work is at the root of healing within ourselves and our communities.
As such, our work is centered on creating brave and inclusive spaces where it is the norm to explore the vulnerable corners of ourselves, seek out our unconscious biases, have difficult conversations, and engage others from a place of deep curiosity and compassion.
Our Mission
Is to offer a suite of therapeutic practices & movement classes to our Chicagoland community in an ethical & socially conscious way to foster connection with ourselves and each other in vulnerable and caring ways in order to foster a more compassionate and connected world.
Our Vision
“We want to live in a world where every person lives an embodied, brave, and connected life”
Our Values in Action
At InPowered Therapy + Yoga we are deeply committed to infusing thoughtfulness and intentionality into every aspect of our programming, policies, and services. Our logo design and the very essence of our space reflect this dedication. Drawing inspiration from neuroaesthetics, we have carefully chosen calming colors, incorporated vibrant plant life, and maximized natural light to create an environment that fosters tranquility and healing. In line with our eco-conscious philosophy, we implement composting practices to reduce our carbon footprint. Our work is anchored in our Core Values of compassionate curiosity, inclusion, courage, and lifelong learning to ensure that our space is welcoming and inclusive to everyone and as such we engage in tiered pricing options to ensure access to healing care and connection to everyone in our community.
Compassionate-Curiosity
We believe that we are all doing the best we can with what we have available to us at the moment. Be generous with your interpretations.
Inclusion
We believe that the world is a more beautiful place when we celebrate our differences, and embrace our shared humanity and that together we will rise.
Courage
We believe that creating change in the world takes a willingness to self reflect and lean into things that are hard.
Lifelong Learning
We believe that there are always ways to learn and grow and that there is value in seeking out your edges.
The Ensō
Ensōs symbolizes absolute enlightenment, strength, elegance, the universe, and mu (the void). When open, the circle is incomplete, allowing for movement and development as well as the perfection of all things. The splatter is chaotic and loud, it represents the parts of us that have been burdened or hurt. However, it is incorporated into the calmness of the ensō, representing our self energy. Chartreuse is energetic, creative, and motivating. Teal is calming, serene, whole, balanced. Zen practitioners relate the idea to wabi-sabi, the beauty of imperfection. In Wabi-sabi pieces that were once “broken” become one again, often repaired with gold, and thus more beautiful in their unique wholeness.
Jen’s Healing Journey
Since childhood I have been deeply curious about people and how we make meaning of our experiences, often losing myself in fictional characters and deeply thinking about the meaning of things such as religion, love, cruelty, community. I now know the part of me that was intuitively seeking to understand as a way of regulating the flood of emotion I couldn’t help but feel from everyone around me.
While studying psychology at the University of Minnesota and seeking to heal myself from paralyzing anxiety, I discovered the Center for Spirituality and Healing. I felt intuitively that there was more to healing than talking and began exploring meditation and yoga. Through breath and movement I slowly felt my body stop vibrating and through therapy I learned boundaries and what it felt like to be vulnerable and accepted.
It became my dream to create a nurturing, brave, and inclusive space where I could help others heal through teaching them to live in their bodies and embrace authenticity. A place where iit is the norm to explore the vulnerable corners of ourselves, have difficult conversations, and engage others and ourselves from a place of deep curiosity and compassion; celebrating our differences and our shared humanity.
